Fashion and Textile Museum

Restorations

Based in Bermondsey, the Fashion and Textile Museum was designed by famous architect Ricardo Legorreta and founded by British designer Zandra Rhodes (Dame of the British Empire and RDI) in 2003. Known for her pink fuchsia hair and for creating designs for famous people including Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury, Zandra gave us the honour to be trusted with carrying out an 8-week makeover of this London hub of contemporary fashion and textiles.

The museum was open during the whole time that the work was taking place. As always, we abided by health and safety by covering all the areas in our vicinity with protective coverings and setting up a scaffolding platform for the painting work. We ensured that students and children alike could attend workshops and have fun in the museum without any interruptions. Our work was primarily involved in giving the museum three new coats of paint and meticulously checking for any cracks, holes and defects which required a repair. Zandra stated that; “The Fashion and Textile Museum has been repainted and restored to its original beauty! Aspect took great care to match the fantastic colours originally chosen by the Architect, Ricardo Legoretta. Aspect was competent, professional and efficient. They were a pleasure to work with.” A big well done to the Aspect team!!
